CloudGate NXS
Industrial-grade 5G RedCap cellular gateway with LuvitRED visual programming, connecting Modbus, M-Bus, and LoRaWAN field devices to ThingsBoard via the standard tb-gateway Docker container.
CloudGate NXS
The CloudGate NXS is an industrial-grade, highly customizable secure cellular gateway from Option, available in both 4G and 5G RedCap cellular variants (specifications below are for the 5G RedCap variant). Built on an NXP i.MX93 dual-core ARM application processor with hardware security (NXP EdgeLock secure enclave, Infineon TPM2.0), it’s designed for system integrators who need to tailor connectivity to site-specific requirements — via front expansion cards (Modbus, M-Bus, GPIO, serial, USB, extra Ethernet) and internal mPCIe/M.2 slots (LoRaWAN concentrator, Wi-Fi/BLE). It ships LuvitRED-enabled, so field protocols can be wired up visually without writing code.
Connectivity
- 5G RedCap (Sub-6 FDD/TDD, NR Standalone) and LTE Cat 4 cellular, worldwide band support
- Active/passive GNSS (L1 + L5)
- 2x Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45), independently LAN/WAN configurable
- Optional eSIM
- Front expansion cards: Modbus (serial master), M-Bus, GPIO, USB, RS232 serial, 4-port Ethernet switch
- Internal mPCIe slot (LoRaWAN concentrator card) and M.2 E-key slot (Wi-Fi/BLE)
- Protocol support via LuvitRED: Modbus RTU/TCP, LoRaWAN, M-Bus, and others
- Open, protocol-agnostic connection to ThingsBoard — no proprietary lock-in
How it connects to ThingsBoard
The CloudGate NXS ships with LuvitRED, a visual flow tool for wiring up field devices without writing code. Data collected by LuvitRED (from Modbus, M-Bus, LoRaWAN, or other connected devices) is forwarded to ThingsBoard by running the official thingsboard/tb-gateway Docker container on the gateway — no custom software or vendor-specific client required. This listing sets up that container and its REST connector automatically: LuvitRED posts JSON to a local HTTP endpoint, and it’s relayed to ThingsBoard as device telemetry.
