Efficiency chart card with background
Who it’s for
Plant operators, maintenance engineers, and energy managers ask “can I see efficiency trend and performance status at a glance?” The background variant combines a trend chart with a full-card color signal for wall-mounted control room displays.
What it does
A device reporting efficiency = 75% renders a time-series trend line, the current value, and delta figures on a card whose entire background fills with the performance color: red for Low (below 40%), orange for Moderate (40–60%), green for Good (60–80%), and blue for Excellent (above 80%).
- Full-card background color makes efficiency performance level readable across a room without reading the number
- Time-series trend chart shows whether efficiency is stable, rising, or declining
- Delta percentage and absolute delta quantify how much efficiency has changed from the previous period
- Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different machines side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
efficiency | Chart series | Timeseries | Efficiency percentage (0–100); change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
| Latest | Latest value | Timeseries | The headline figure above the chart. Its own color ranges are where the band colors are edited |
| Delta percent | Percentage change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, as a percentage |
| Delta absolute | Absolute change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, in the key’s own unit |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Efficiency, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–40 | Low | Red |
| 40–60 | Moderate | Orange |
| 60–80 | Good | Green |
| 80+ | Excellent | Blue |
How to customize
- To change the performance thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key.
- To change the background colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- On a control room wall display, the colored background announces the current performance status from across the room while the trend chart shows whether efficiency is stable or moving toward a different band.
- Use this card when you need both a trend signal and at-a-glance status in a visually prominent format — for example, one card per production line on a plant-floor overview screen.
- Use consistent performance colors across all efficiency widgets.
