Efficiency range chart
Who it’s for
Plant operators, maintenance engineers, and energy managers ask “how long has this asset been in each performance band over the shift or day?” They need a chart that shows not just current efficiency but the time spent in each zone.
What it does
A device reporting efficiency = 75% renders a time-series area chart overlaid on horizontal color bands: red for Low (below 40%), orange for Moderate (40–60%), green for Good (60–80%), and blue for Excellent (above 80%). The chart background is divided into these zones so operators can instantly see which performance band the efficiency line occupies at any point in time. A data zoom slider lets operators examine any sub-period in detail.
- Color-banded area chart shows efficiency trend against performance zone boundaries simultaneously
- Data zoom slider lets operators focus on any time window — a full shift, a maintenance window, or a specific incident
- Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different machines side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
efficiency | Chart series | Timeseries | Efficiency percentage (0–100); change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Efficiency, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–40 | Low | Red |
| 40–60 | Moderate | Orange |
| 60–80 | Good | Green |
| 80–100 | Excellent | Blue |
How to customize
- To change the performance thresholds — open the widget settings and adjust the band boundaries.
- To change the band colors — edit the color for each performance band in the widget settings.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- Use the data zoom slider to isolate a maintenance window and confirm that efficiency recovered to the Good or Excellent band after the intervention.
- A line that hugs the Good–Excellent boundary (60–80%) with frequent dips into Moderate is a sign of intermittent issues — zoom in to find the timestamps and cross-reference with maintenance logs.
- Pair with a vibration range chart on the same row to see whether efficiency dips align with elevated vibration spikes, a common pattern in bearing-related degradation.
