Flow rate card with background
Who it’s for
Process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance technicians ask “can I see flow rate status at a glance?” The background variant adds a full-card color signal for wall-mounted control room displays.
What it does
A device reporting flowRate = 22 m³/hr renders the current value on a card whose entire background fills with the operating level color: blue for Low (below 10 m³/hr), green for Normal (10–30 m³/hr), orange for Elevated (30–50 m³/hr), and red for High (above 50 m³/hr).
- Full-card background color makes flow rate operating level readable across a room without reading the number
- Live flow rate reading in m³/hr overlaid on the colored background
- Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different pipes or pumps side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
flowRate | Main value | Timeseries | Flow rate in m³/hr; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Flow rate, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (m³/hr) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Low | Blue |
| 10–30 | Normal | Green |
| 30–50 | Elevated | Orange |
| 50+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the operating thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the background colors — edit the background color for each operating band in the widget settings.
- To change the units — change the Units field in the widget settings to match your flow meter’s output.
Tips
- On a control room wall display, the colored background announces flow status from across the room — operators see a green or red card before they read any numbers.
- Use this card when the dashboard is viewed from a distance, such as a mounted monitor in a pump room or utility corridor.
- Use consistent operating colors across all flow rate widgets.
