Who it’s for

Process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance technicians ask “how much of the flow capacity is being used right now and which operating band does it fall in?” They need a bar that shows position within the operating range at a glance.

What it does

A device reporting flowRate = 22 m³/hr renders a horizontal bar filled to 22% of the 0–100 m³/hr range, with the fill color indicating operating level: blue for Low (below 10 m³/hr), green for Normal (10–30 m³/hr), orange for Elevated (30–50 m³/hr), and red for High (above 50 m³/hr).

  • Horizontal progress bar shows position within the 0–100 m³/hr operating range
  • Color-coded fill indicates operating band without requiring the operator to read the number
  • Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different pipes or pumps side by side

How to set up

Data keys

KeyRoleTypeDescription
flowRateBar valueTimeseriesFlow rate in m³/hr; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled flowRate, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

How to customize

  • To change the operating thresholds — open the widget settings and adjust the band boundaries.
  • To change the bar colors — edit the color for each operating band in the widget settings.
  • To change the bar range — adjust the minimum and maximum values in the widget settings to match your flow meter’s full-scale range.

Tips

  • Stack multiple progress bars vertically to compare flow rates across several pipes or pumps on a single dashboard — the bar format is compact enough to fit 6–8 assets in a column without scrolling.
  • A bar stuck at zero (blue, Low) on a line that should be flowing is a strong indicator of a blockage, closed valve, or pump failure — set an alarm on this condition for immediate notification.
  • Pair with a fluid pressure progress bar on the same row for a side-by-side hydraulic state view of each pipeline segment.
