Pressure chart card
Who it’s for
Process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance technicians ask “what is the pressure trend for this line, what is the level right now, and how much has it changed?” They need a chart that shows current value, direction, and delta in a single card.
What it does
A device reporting pressure = 8 bar renders a time-series trend line alongside the current value, a percentage delta from the previous period, and an absolute delta. The chart and values are color-coded by operating level: blue for Low (below 5 bar), green for Normal (5–10 bar), orange for Elevated (10–15 bar), and red for High (above 15 bar).
- Time-series trend chart shows whether pressure is stable, rising, or declining
- Live pressure reading in bar with color coding across four operating bands
- Delta percentage and absolute delta quantify how much pressure has changed from the previous period
- Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different lines or vessels side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
pressure | Chart series | Timeseries | Fluid pressure in bar; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
| Latest | Latest value | Timeseries | The headline figure above the chart. Its own color ranges are where the band colors are edited |
| Delta percent | Percentage change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, as a percentage |
| Delta absolute | Absolute change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, in the key’s own unit |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Pressure, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (bar) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–5 | Low | Blue |
| 5–10 | Normal | Green |
| 10–15 | Elevated | Orange |
| 15+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the operating thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key.
- To change the chart colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.
- To change the units — change the Units field in the widget settings to match your pressure sensor’s output.
Tips
- A rising trend approaching the Elevated band (10 bar) is an early warning — investigate the cause before pressure enters the High zone and safety systems activate.
- Use the delta to distinguish a controlled pressure increase (e.g., pump startup) from an unexpected pressure surge: a large positive delta combined with a red card warrants immediate action.
- Pair with a flow rate chart card on the same row to correlate pressure changes with flow variations across the same pipeline segment.
