Horizontal individual allergy index (IAI) card with background
Who it’s for
Allergy sufferers, public health managers, and outdoor event organizers ask “can I see the allergy risk status across all monitoring locations at once, in a compact layout where the risk is immediately obvious?” The horizontal background variant combines the space efficiency of the horizontal layout with full-card color coding.
What it does
A sensor reporting IAI_level = 4.1 displays the index in a wide, low-height card whose entire background fills with the risk color: green for Good (0–2), light green for Moderate (2–6), orange for Elevated (6–9), and red for Hazardous (above 9).
- Full-card background color in a compact horizontal format makes allergy risk obvious without reading the number
- Live IAI reading
- Shows one sensor’s reading per widget; stack multiple widgets to cover an entire network of locations in a narrow column
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
IAI_level | Main value | Timeseries | Individual Allergy Index value (unitless); change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled IAI, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | Good | Green |
| 2–6 | Moderate | Light Green |
| 6–9 | Elevated | Orange |
| 9+ | Hazardous | Red |
How to customize
- To change the severity thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the band colors — edit the color of each range in Icon color ranges and Value color ranges.
- To add a units label — set a custom Units label in the widget settings to indicate the index scale to end users.
Tips
- A column of horizontal IAI cards with colored backgrounds on a public information display lets visitors instantly assess which parks or venues have elevated allergen risk before heading outside.
- Use consistent severity colors across all allergy and air quality widgets.
- Pair this layout with IAI chart cards to give health managers a trend view for any elevated location.
