Horizontal power consumption card
Who it’s for
Energy managers, plant operators, and sustainability engineers ask “what is the current power draw for this asset in a compact, row-friendly layout?” They need a single-value card that fits more machines across the same dashboard width.
What it does
A device reporting powerConsumption = 8 kW renders the current value in a compact horizontal card color-coded by consumption level: green for Low (below 5 kW), orange for Moderate (5–15 kW), and red for High (above 15 kW).
- Compact horizontal layout fits more machines or circuits per row than the standard card
- Live power reading in kW with color coding across three consumption bands
- Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different machines or circuits side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
powerConsumption | Main value | Timeseries | Power consumption in kW; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Power consumption, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (kW) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–5 | Low | Green |
| 5–15 | Moderate | Orange |
| 15+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the consumption thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the card colors — edit the color for each consumption band in the widget settings.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- The horizontal card fits twice as many assets per row as the standard card — use it for a facility-wide energy overview where screen space is limited.
- Stack horizontal power consumption and efficiency cards in alternating rows to create a compact energy-performance panel for each machine without consuming extra columns.
- Use consistent consumption colors across all power widgets.
