Horizontal rotational speed card with background
Who it’s for
Maintenance engineers, machine operators, and plant supervisors ask “can I see rotational speed status in a compact row layout?” The background variant adds a full-card color signal while keeping the compact horizontal footprint.
What it does
A device reporting rotationalSpeed = 1200 RPM renders the current value in a compact horizontal card whose entire background fills with the operating level color: blue for Low (below 500 RPM), green for Normal (500–1500 RPM), orange for Elevated (1500–3000 RPM), and red for High (above 3000 RPM).
- Full-card background color makes rotational speed operating level readable across a room without reading the number
- Compact horizontal layout fits more motors or drives per row than the standard card
- Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different motors or drives side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
rotationalSpeed | Main value | Timeseries | Rotational speed in RPM; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Rotational speed, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (RPM) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–500 | Low | Blue |
| 500–1500 | Normal | Green |
| 1500–3000 | Elevated | Orange |
| 3000+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the operating thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the background colors — edit the background color for each operating band in the widget settings.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- On a control room wall display, the colored background announces motor status from across the room while the horizontal format lets more drives fit in view simultaneously.
- Use this card when you need both a strong visual status signal and a dense multi-drive layout — for example, two rows of horizontal background cards covering all motors in a production area.
- Use consistent operating colors across all rotational speed widgets.
