Horizontal volatile organic compounds card
Who it’s for
Indoor air quality managers, building managers, and health and safety officers ask “what is the VOC level in this space right now?” They need a compact, space-efficient card that fits into multi-room overview dashboards without dominating the layout.
What it does
A sensor reporting voc = 320 ppb displays the reading in a horizontal card whose label and value sit side by side, color-coded by severity: green for Good (0–500 ppb), orange for Moderate (500–1000 ppb), and red for Hazardous (above 1000 ppb).
- Horizontal layout fits more rooms per row on a multi-zone indoor air quality dashboard
- Live VOC reading in ppb with automatic color coding across three severity bands
- Shows one sensor’s reading per widget; tile multiple widgets to monitor all rooms and zones at a glance
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
voc | Main value | Timeseries | VOC concentration in ppb; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled VOCs, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–500 | Good | Green |
| 500–1000 | Moderate | Orange |
| 1000+ | Hazardous | Red |
How to customize
- To change the severity thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the band colors — edit the color of each range in Icon color ranges and Value color ranges.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if your sensor reports in µg/m³.
Tips
- Use the horizontal layout to fit more rooms per row when building a whole-building VOC overview dashboard; pair with the standard card for rooms where a larger, more prominent display is needed.
- Placing horizontal cards for VOC, CO2, and humidity side by side on the same row lets facilities staff quickly identify whether a single room has a combined air quality issue that warrants immediate ventilation.
- After a cleaning or renovation event, glancing at the horizontal cards for affected rooms is a quick way to confirm that all spaces have returned to the Good band before reopening.
