Who it’s for

Building managers, HVAC engineers, and environmental monitoring teams ask “where does the humidity sit on the scale right now, at a glance?” A fill-style bar makes it immediately obvious how close conditions are to the comfort zone or danger boundary, without reading a number.

What it does

A sensor reading 52% fills the bar to 52% of its full scale in blue — Comfortable. At 28% the bar fills to 28% and turns orange — Dry. At 85% the bar fills to 85% and shifts to deep blue — Very Humid.

  • Horizontal progress bar that fills left to right as humidity rises, scaled from 0 to 100%
  • Color-coded fill that changes across five humidity segments: red for Very Dry, orange for Dry, blue for Comfortable, dark blue for Humid, deep blue for Very Humid
  • Numeric value and label displayed alongside the bar
  • Last-updated timestamp showing how long ago the reading arrived
  • Shows one sensor’s data; it does not chart history or compare multiple zones

How to set up

Data keys

KeyRoleTypeDescription
humidityBar valueTimeseriesRelative humidity in %; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled humidity, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

If the key has never reported, the bar renders empty.

Value ranges

Range (%)LevelColor
0–20Very DryRed
20–40DryOrange
40–60ComfortableBlue
60–80HumidDark Blue
80–100Very HumidDeep Blue

How to customize

  • To use your own humidity thresholds — edit the Color ranges; the bar segments shift automatically.
  • To hide the value or timestamp — turn off Show value or Show date.
  • To match your dashboard’s fonts — set the font options in the widget settings.

Tips

  • The scale is fixed at 0–100% because relative humidity is always a percentage. Unlike water level or pressure bars, there is no need to adjust Tick min or Tick max.
  • The comfort zone for most indoor spaces is 40–60%. The blue segment shows exactly how far the current reading sits from the boundaries of that range.
