Indoor horizontal humidity card with background
Who it’s for
Facility managers, HVAC engineers, and building managers ask “can I monitor humidity across many rooms in a compact layout where the comfort status is still instantly visible?” The horizontal background variant combines space efficiency with the full-card color signal.
What it does
A sensor reporting humidity = 45% displays the reading in a horizontal card whose entire background fills with the comfort color: orange for Low (0–30%), green for Comfortable (30–60%), and red for High (above 60%).
- Full-card background color makes humidity comfort status readable across a room without reading the number
- Horizontal layout fits more rooms per row on a multi-zone indoor environment dashboard
- Shows one sensor’s reading per widget; tile multiple widgets to monitor all rooms at a glance
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
humidity | Main value | Timeseries | Relative humidity in %; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Humidity, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (%) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–30 | Low | Orange |
| 30–60 | Comfortable | Green |
| 60+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the comfort thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the background colors — edit the background color for each comfort level in the widget settings.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- A row of horizontal background cards, one per room, lets the facilities manager see which spaces have out-of-range humidity after a weekend of reduced HVAC operation.
- Use consistent comfort colors across all indoor environment widgets: green is comfortable, orange or red needs attention.
- For archives, museums, or server rooms where humidity tolerances are tight, the colored background provides an immediate alarm-level signal that a plain numeric card does not.
