Who it’s for

Facility managers, building managers, and smart home owners ask “what is the temperature in this space right now?” They need a compact, space-efficient card that fits into multi-room comfort dashboards without dominating the layout.

What it does

A sensor reporting temperature = 21°C displays the reading in a horizontal card whose label and value sit side by side, color-coded by comfort level: blue for Cold (below 18°C), light green for Comfortable (18–24°C), and red for Hot (above 24°C).

  • Horizontal layout fits more rooms per row on a multi-zone comfort dashboard
  • Live temperature reading in °C with automatic color coding across three comfort bands
  • Shows one sensor’s reading per widget; tile multiple widgets to monitor all rooms at a glance

How to set up

Data keys

KeyRoleTypeDescription
temperatureMain valueTimeseriesIndoor temperature in °C; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Temperature, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

How to customize

  • To change the comfort thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
  • To change the band colors — edit the color for each comfort level in the widget settings.
  • To switch units to °F — change the Units field and adjust the thresholds accordingly in the widget settings.

Tips

  • Use the horizontal layout to fit more rooms per row when building a whole-building temperature overview; pair with the standard card for rooms adjacent to plant rooms or external walls where temperature is more likely to deviate.
  • Placing horizontal cards for temperature and humidity on the same row lets building staff quickly assess thermal comfort for each zone without switching views.
  • For seasonal commissioning checks, a row of horizontal temperature cards across all zones on a cold morning confirms that every AHU is delivering conditioned air before the building fills with occupants.
