Indoor humidity progress bar
Who it’s for
Facility managers, HVAC engineers, and building managers ask “where does the current humidity sit on the comfortable–to–problematic scale?” The progress bar format makes it easy to see at a glance not just whether humidity is in range, but how close it is to the boundary of the comfortable zone.
What it does
A sensor reporting humidity = 45% displays the value as a horizontal bar that fills proportionally from 0% to 100%, with color-coded segments: orange for Low (0–30%), green for Comfortable (30–60%), and red for High (above 60%).
- Progress bar visualization shows where the current value sits within the full humidity range
- Color-coded segments highlight the three comfort bands along the bar
- Shows one sensor’s reading per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different rooms
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
humidity | Bar value | Timeseries | Relative humidity in %; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled humidity, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (%) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–30 | Low | Orange |
| 30–60 | Comfortable | Green |
| 60+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the bar range — open the widget settings and adjust the minimum and maximum tick values (default 0–100%).
- To change the comfort thresholds — adjust the band boundaries to match your HVAC design specification.
- To change the segment colors — edit the color for each comfort band in the widget settings.
Tips
- The bar format makes it immediately clear whether a reading of 28% is almost comfortable (just 2% below the green zone) or deeply dry, which a plain number card does not communicate as intuitively.
- Use the progress bar alongside a temperature progress bar on the same card row to give occupants a quick visual comfort check of both key parameters at a glance.
- When the bar fill sits right at the boundary between two color segments and flickers between them, the HVAC humidifier is cycling near its control setpoint — normal behavior, but useful to note when investigating occupant comfort complaints.
