Indoor simple PM2.5 chart card
Who it’s for
Facility managers, building managers, and indoor air quality specialists ask “what is the PM2.5 trend for this space and what is the level right now?” They need a compact chart that combines trend and current reading in the smallest possible footprint.
What it does
A sensor reporting pm2.5 = 18 µg/m³ renders a compact sparkline-style trend line and the current value together in a single card, color-coded by severity: light green for Good (0–35 µg/m³), orange for Moderate (35–75 µg/m³), and red for High (above 75 µg/m³).
- Compact sparkline chart shows PM2.5 direction at a glance without occupying the space of a full chart card
- Live PM2.5 reading in µg/m³ with color coding across three severity bands
- Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different rooms side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
pm2.5 | Chart series | Timeseries | PM2.5 concentration in µg/m³; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
| Latest | Latest value | Timeseries | The headline figure above the chart. Its own color ranges are where the band colors are edited |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled PM2.5, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (µg/m³) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–35 | Good | Light Green |
| 35–75 | Moderate | Orange |
| 75+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the severity thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key.
- To change the chart colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- The simple chart card fits more rooms per row than the full chart card — use it for a building-wide PM2.5 overview where you need trend direction and current value without delta percentages.
- A rising sparkline alongside a Moderate reading signals an ongoing fine particulate event that may need ventilation or source elimination before reaching the High threshold.
- Pair with a PM10 simple chart card on the same row to distinguish fine combustion sources (PM2.5 rising alone) from mixed dust-and-combustion events (both rising together).
