PM2.5 card
Who it’s for
Air quality engineers, city planners, and environmental health officers ask “how high is the fine particle concentration right now?” They need a single card that flags whether PM2.5 — the particle fraction most harmful to respiratory health — is within safe limits or demands action.
What it does
A sensor reading 28 µg/m³ shows an orange icon and value — Moderate — warning that fine particles are above the Good range. The same card shows green at 6 µg/m³ — Good — and red at 90 µg/m³ — Hazardous.
- Color-coded icon and value that shift across four PM2.5 bands from Good to Hazardous
- Last-updated timestamp showing how long ago the reading arrived
- Shows one sensor’s data; it does not chart trends or compare multiple monitoring sites
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
pm2.5 | Main value | Timeseries | PM2.5 concentration in µg/m³; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled PM2.5, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
The card shows the value in µg/m³ with no decimal places. If the key has never reported, the card displays the label and icon with an empty value, not an error.
Value ranges
| Range | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Good | Green |
| 10–35 | Moderate | Orange |
| 35–75 | High | Dark Orange |
| 75+ | Hazardous | Red |
How to customize
- To use your own PM2.5 thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
- To change the icon — set Icon to any Material or MDI icon name.
- To hide the label, icon, or timestamp — turn off Show label, Show icon, or Show date.
- To switch to an absolute timestamp — turn off Last update ago in the date format settings.
- To match your dashboard’s fonts — set Value font and Label font.
Tips
- Keep Icon color ranges and Value color ranges on the same boundaries so the icon and the number always show the same band.
- WHO Air Quality Guidelines set an annual mean target of 5 µg/m³ for PM2.5 — stricter than PM10 because fine particles penetrate deeper into the lungs. The default Good band (0–10 µg/m³) is a reasonable short-term safe-zone target.
