Power consumption card with background

Who it’s for

Energy managers, plant operators, and sustainability engineers ask “can I see power consumption status at a glance?” The background variant adds a full-card color signal for wall-mounted energy control room displays.

What it does

A device reporting powerConsumption = 8 kW renders the current value on a card whose entire background fills with the consumption level color: green for Low (below 5 kW), orange for Moderate (5–15 kW), and red for High (above 15 kW).

• Full-card background color makes consumption level readable across a room without reading the number
• Live power reading in kW overlaid on the colored background
• Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different machines or circuits side by side

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Power consumption, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

How to customize

• To change the consumption thresholds — edit Icon color ranges and Value color ranges; set the same boundaries in both so the icon and the number always agree.
• To change the background colors — edit the background color for each consumption band in the widget settings.
• To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.

Tips

• On an energy control room wall display, the colored background announces consumption status from across the room — operators see green or red before they read any numbers.
• Use this card when the dashboard is viewed from a distance, such as a mounted monitor in an energy management center or production floor.
• Use consistent consumption colors across all power widgets.
