Who it’s for

Energy managers, plant operators, and sustainability engineers ask “can I see power consumption history by consumption band?” The background variant adds a full-card color signal for wall-mounted energy control room displays.

What it does

A device reporting powerConsumption = 8 kW renders a time-series bar chart where each bar is color-coded by consumption level on a card whose entire background fills with the current consumption level color: green for Low (below 5 kW), orange for Moderate (5–15 kW), and red for High (above 15 kW).

  • Full-card background color makes current consumption level readable across a room without reading the number
  • Color-coded bar chart makes each interval’s consumption band visible at a glance across the full time period
  • Data zoom slider lets operators focus on any time window within the displayed period
  • Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to compare consumption patterns across different machines or circuits

How to set up

Data keys

KeyRoleTypeDescription
powerConsumptionChart seriesTimeseriesPower consumption in kW; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Power consumption, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

How to customize

  • To change the consumption thresholds — open the widget settings and adjust the band boundaries to reflect your facility’s energy budget.
  • To change the background and bar colors — edit the color for each consumption band in the widget settings.
  • To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.

Tips

  • On an energy control room wall display, the colored background announces current consumption status from across the room while the bar chart shows how consumption has varied throughout the period.
  • Use this card on a large monitor dedicated to a single machine or circuit where both historical consumption pattern and current status must be legible from a standing position.
  • Use consistent consumption colors across all power widgets.
