Who it’s for

Meteorologists, weather station operators, and building managers ask “where does the current pressure sit within the full atmospheric range?” They use this bar on dedicated weather monitoring or reception screens where a background image gives the card a polished look.

What it does

A sensor reading 1008 hPa fills the bar to roughly 65% of the 870–1085 hPa scale and colors it green — Normal — displayed over the preset background image. A reading of 985 hPa fills to about 50% in red — Low.

How to set up

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Pressure, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

If the key has never reported, the bar renders empty.

How to customize

• To swap the background image — open the widget settings and set Background to a different image or switch to a solid color.
• To adjust how much the background shows through — change the Overlay opacity; lower values reveal more of the image, higher values push it further back.
• To narrow the displayed range — set Tick min and Tick max to a tighter window (e.g. 960–1040 hPa) to spread out the Normal band and make small pressure changes more visible.
• To use your own pressure thresholds — edit the color ranges; adjust the three default bands to match your operational limits.
• To hide the value label — turn off Show value in the widget settings.
• To hide the entity name subtitle or the timestamp — turn off Show subtitle or Show date.

Tips

• The default 870–1085 hPa scale covers the full historical range of recorded sea-level pressure. Narrow Tick min and Tick max to a ±50 hPa window for a station near sea level to make small but significant changes more visible on the bar.
• If the background image reduces contrast, raise the Overlay opacity to keep the text readable from a distance.
