Pressure range chart with background
Who it’s for
Process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance technicians ask “can I see pressure history against operating zones?” The background variant adds a full-card color signal for wall-mounted control room displays.
What it does
A device reporting pressure = 8 bar renders a time-series area chart overlaid on horizontal color bands on a card whose entire background fills with the current operating level color: blue for Low (below 5 bar), green for Normal (5–10 bar), orange for Elevated (10–15 bar), and red for High (above 15 bar).
- Full-card background color makes current fluid pressure operating level readable across a room without reading the number
- Color-banded area chart shows pressure trend against operating zone boundaries simultaneously
- Data zoom slider lets operators focus on any time window within the displayed period
- Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different lines or vessels side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
pressure | Chart series | Timeseries | Fluid pressure in bar; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Pressure, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (bar) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–5 | Low | Blue |
| 5–10 | Normal | Green |
| 10–15 | Elevated | Orange |
| 15+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the operating thresholds — open the widget settings and adjust the band boundaries.
- To change the background and band colors — edit the color for each operating band in the widget settings.
- To change the units — change the Units field in the widget settings to match your pressure sensor’s output.
Tips
- On a control room wall display, the colored background announces current pressure status from across the room while the banded chart tells the story of how pressure has behaved over the period.
- Use this card on a large monitor dedicated to a single process system where both trend history and current status must be legible from a standing position.
- Use consistent operating colors across all fluid pressure widgets.
