Vibration chart card
Who it’s for
Maintenance engineers, reliability technicians, and plant operators ask “what is the vibration trend for this pump, what is the level right now, and how much has it changed?” They need a chart that shows current value, direction, and delta in a single card.
What it does
A device reporting vibration = 2.1 mm/s renders a time-series trend line alongside the current value, a percentage delta from the previous period, and an absolute delta. The chart and values are color-coded by ISO 10816 severity level: green for Good (below 2.8 mm/s), orange for Moderate (2.8–4.5 mm/s), dark orange for Elevated (4.5–7.1 mm/s), and red for High (above 7.1 mm/s).
- Time-series trend chart shows whether vibration is stable, increasing, or decreasing
- Live vibration reading in mm/s with color coding across four ISO 10816 severity bands
- Delta percentage and absolute delta quantify how much vibration has changed from the previous period
- Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different pumps or motors side by side
How to set up
Data keys
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
vibration | Chart series | Timeseries | Vibration velocity in mm/s; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key |
| Latest | Latest value | Timeseries | The headline figure above the chart. Its own color ranges are where the band colors are edited |
| Delta percent | Percentage change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, as a percentage |
| Delta absolute | Absolute change | Timeseries | Change against the previous period, in the key’s own unit |
The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Vibration, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.
To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.
Value ranges
| Range (mm/s) | Level | Color |
|---|---|---|
| 0–2.8 | Good | Green |
| 2.8–4.5 | Moderate | Orange |
| 4.5–7.1 | Elevated | Dark Orange |
| 7.1+ | High | Red |
How to customize
- To change the severity thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key to match your machinery class per ISO 10816.
- To change the chart colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.
- To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.
Tips
- A rising trend approaching the Moderate band (2.8 mm/s) is an early signal — schedule a maintenance inspection before vibration enters the Elevated zone where bearing damage begins to accumulate rapidly.
- Use the delta to distinguish a gradual deterioration (small positive delta over many readings) from a sudden impact event (large positive delta in one reading): the former suggests wear, the latter suggests an acute mechanical event.
- Pair with an efficiency chart card on the same row to correlate rising vibration with declining efficiency, the two-variable signature of bearing degradation in centrifugal pumps.
