Who it’s for

Process engineers, plant operators, and maintenance technicians ask “what is the flow rate trend for this line and what is the level right now?” They need a compact chart that combines trend and current reading in the smallest possible footprint.

What it does

A device reporting flowRate = 22 m³/hr renders a compact sparkline-style trend line and the current value together in a single card, color-coded by operating level: blue for Low (below 10 m³/hr), green for Normal (10–30 m³/hr), orange for Elevated (30–50 m³/hr), and red for High (above 50 m³/hr).

  • Compact sparkline chart shows flow rate direction at a glance without occupying the space of a full chart card
  • Live flow rate reading in m³/hr with color coding across four operating bands
  • Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different pipes or pumps side by side

How to set up

Data keys

flowRateChart seriesTimeseriesFlow rate in m³/hr; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key
LatestLatest valueTimeseriesThe headline figure above the chart. Its own color ranges are where the band colors are edited

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Flow rate, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

Value ranges

Range (m³/hr)LevelColor
0–10LowBlue
10–30NormalGreen
30–50ElevatedOrange
50+HighRed

How to customize

  • To change the operating thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key.
  • To change the chart colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.
  • To change the units — change the Units field in the widget settings to match your flow meter’s output.

Tips

  • The simple chart card fits more pipes per row than the full chart card — use it for a process-wide flow overview where you only need trend direction and current value, not delta percentages.
  • A declining sparkline alongside a Normal reading is an early warning that flow is drifting toward the Low band — a useful prompt for a pump check before the flow visibly drops.
  • Pair with a fluid pressure simple chart card on the same row for a two-variable hydraulic panel that fits twice as many pipeline segments on screen as the full chart cards.
