Who it’s for

Maintenance engineers, reliability technicians, and plant operators ask “how long has this pump been in each vibration severity band over the shift or week?” They need a chart that shows not just current vibration but the time spent in each zone.

What it does

A device reporting vibration = 2.1 mm/s renders a time-series area chart overlaid on horizontal color bands: green for Good (below 2.8 mm/s), orange for Moderate (2.8–4.5 mm/s), dark orange for Elevated (4.5–7.1 mm/s), and red for High (above 7.1 mm/s). The chart background is divided into ISO 10816 zones so technicians can instantly see which severity band the vibration occupies at any point in time. A data zoom slider lets operators examine any sub-period in detail.

  • Color-banded area chart shows vibration trend against ISO 10816 severity zone boundaries simultaneously
  • Data zoom slider lets technicians focus on any time window — a full shift, a run-up after maintenance, or a specific vibration event
  • Shows one asset’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to monitor different pumps or motors side by side

How to set up

Data keys

KeyRoleTypeDescription
vibrationChart seriesTimeseriesVibration velocity in mm/s; change the key name to match your device’s telemetry key

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Vibration, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

4.5–7.1ElevatedDark Orange
7.1+HighRed

How to customize

  • To change the severity thresholds — open the widget settings and adjust the band boundaries to match your machinery class per ISO 10816.
  • To change the band colors — edit the color for each severity band in the widget settings.
  • To rename the units label — change the Units field in the widget settings if needed.

Tips

  • Use the data zoom slider to isolate the period immediately after a maintenance intervention and confirm that vibration returned to the Good band — this validates the repair and provides a baseline for the next inspection cycle.
  • A line that spends increasing time in the Moderate band over consecutive shifts is a reliable indicator of progressive bearing wear — use this chart to track the degradation slope and predict when the Elevated threshold will be crossed.
  • Pair with an efficiency range chart on the same row to see whether vibration increases align with efficiency decreases, a two-variable signature that helps distinguish mechanical issues from process-related changes.
