Edge Quick Overview
Overview of entities related to the specified ThingsBoard Edge instance.
Who it’s for
Anyone operating a ThingsBoard Edge instance who needs to see what it is responsible for — which devices, assets and other entities are assigned to that edge — without navigating the entity list and filtering it by hand.
What it does
The Edge Quick Overview widget lists the entities related to a specified ThingsBoard Edge instance. Pointed at an edge, it summarizes what that edge carries, which is the question that comes up whenever an edge is provisioned, moved or investigated.
- One place to see an edge’s scope, rather than a filtered entity search per type.
- The list follows the edge’s own relations, so it reflects what the platform actually assigns rather than a naming convention.
- The default title can be shown or replaced, which matters on a dashboard carrying several edges.
- The widget is read-only, so it can sit on an operational board without risk.
- The Edge Quick Overview widget summarizes assignment: an edge’s health and throughput are separate questions with their own widgets.
How to set up
Data keys
The Edge Quick Overview widget takes its content from the edge it is pointed at rather than from a configured key list.
| Key | Role | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edge entity | The edge whose related entities are listed | Entity field | Point the datasource at the edge instance; the widget lists what is related to it. |
Display
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Display default title | On | Shows the built-in caption; turn off to supply your own |
How to customize
- To name the panel yourself — turn off Display default title and set the widget title to the edge’s site or role.
- To cover a different edge — point the datasource at that edge instance.
Tips
- Name the widget after the site rather than the edge’s identifier. Edge names are usually generated and the site is what the operator is thinking about, especially on a dashboard carrying several.
- Check this widget after every provisioning change. Entity assignment to an edge is easy to get partly right, and a device that was never assigned behaves exactly like one that is offline.
