Who it’s for

Allergy sufferers, public health managers, and outdoor event organizers ask “how has the allergy index trended recently, and what is the current risk level at a glance?” The simple chart with background combines compact trend visualization with full-card color coding so the current status is visible from a distance.

What it does

A sensor streams IAI_level telemetry and the widget renders a time-series trend chart on a card whose background color reflects the current severity: green for Good (0–2), light green for Moderate (2–6), orange for Elevated (6–9), and red for Hazardous (above 9).

  • Full-card background color communicates current allergy risk at a glance from a distance
  • Trend chart of the Individual Allergy Index over the selected dashboard time window
  • Shows one sensor’s data per widget; add multiple widgets to compare trends and current status across locations

Data keys

The widget ships with a simulated function datasource key labeled Air Quality Index, so it draws random values until you point the datasource at a device and rename the key.

To point it at your own device: open the dashboard in edit mode, open the widget’s Datasources, pick the entity or entity alias, and replace the function key with the key your device reports.

2–6ModerateLight Green

9+HazardousRed

How to customize

  • To change the time window — adjust the dashboard time filter to show the last hour, day, or week of IAI readings.
  • To change the severity thresholds — edit the color ranges on the Latest data key.
  • To change the background colors — edit the color of each range on the Latest data key.

Tips

  • On a public information display, the colored background signals the current allergy risk at a glance while the chart shows whether conditions are improving or deteriorating.
  • Use consistent severity colors across all allergy and air quality widgets so users build a single mental model for what each color means across the entire dashboard.
  • A 7-day chart showing the seasonal IAI trend helps event organizers plan outdoor activities around predictably lower-risk windows.
