What is an IoT solution template?

A solution template is a complete, deployable IoT solution that bundles dashboards, rule chains, device and asset profiles, calculated fields, devices, and telemetry emulators. Installing it gives you a working end-to-end solution with live simulated data — a starting point you adapt to your own data.

How do I install an IoT solutions template?

Click Install, review the description and preview gallery, and confirm. The platform atomically provisions every entity and redirects you to the main dashboard with simulated data already flowing.

Are solution templates compatible with all editions?

Each template targets Community Edition (CE), Professional Edition (PE), or both. CE templates use only CE features; PE templates may use RBAC, white-labeling, advanced integrations, and reporting. The catalog shows an edition badge and the minimum ThingsBoard version.

Does the demo use real data?

No — templates ship with device emulators that stream realistic synthetic telemetry immediately, so dashboards are never empty. Post-install instructions explain how to connect real hardware.
