Do I need to sign an additional contract to contribute?

Section titled “Do I need to sign an additional contract to contribute?”

No additional contract is required. Accepting the Terms of Use is sufficient.

Is IoT Hub available for all ThingsBoard editions?

Section titled “Is IoT Hub available for all ThingsBoard editions?”

Yes. IoT Hub is available for all ThingsBoard users and installations: Community Edition, Professional Edition, on-premise deployments, and Cloud (PaaS).

What license applies to contributed items?

Section titled “What license applies to contributed items?”

For the initial launch phase, all items contributed to IoT Hub are released under the Apache 2.0 license.

Advanced monetization features — including proprietary licensing mechanisms and direct asset sales — are planned for a later phase. For the launch wave, we recommend focusing on templates or device packages you are comfortable sharing under Apache 2.0 to maximize early visibility and lead generation.

Can other users modify and reuse my published content?

Section titled “Can other users modify and reuse my published content?”

Yes. Under the Apache 2.0 structure, other users can adapt and customize your published content for their own solutions. They cannot re-publish or list your asset as their own on IoT Hub — the review team monitors and prevents content duplication.

Can I remove or update my published content later?

Section titled “Can I remove or update my published content later?”

Yes. You can update or remove any item you have published. Every update goes through moderation review before it becomes visible to users.

Can I include branding and contact information in my published items?

Section titled “Can I include branding and contact information in my published items?”

Yes. Add your company information, contact details, website links, and support resources to your Creator or Company profile. All items you publish link back to your profile automatically.

Will I see analytics on how my items are used?

Section titled “Will I see analytics on how my items are used?”

Initially, analytics show the total number of installations for each of your items. More detailed usage and engagement insights are planned in future releases.

Leads reach you in two ways:

Direct inbound — users can visit your website or contact you directly via the links in your Creator/Company profile.

Affiliate monetization — when you join the affiliate program, you receive a unique referral link. Any user who registers with ThingsBoard through your link generates recurring revenue for you (up to 30% commission).

Section titled “Are there featured partner or ranking slots?”

Company profiles are available from day one for all contributors. Featured partner slots and rankings are reserved exclusively for First Movers — contributors who publish during the launch wave. After the launch period, featured status is tied to content popularity and total install count.

Can I publish a limited version and keep advanced features private?

Section titled “Can I publish a limited version and keep advanced features private?”

You can publish any content that falls under the Community Edition or Professional Edition feature set (free content only). Content behind custom commercial licenses is not supported during the launch phase.
