IoT Solution Templates

Solution Templates is a catalog of complete IoT solution packages in ThingsBoard’s IoT Hub, built around real-world use cases. Each template provisions a ready-to-use environment in your tenant automatically — click Install and get a working IoT solution in seconds.

Depending on the template, the installation creates: Devices (pre-configured with simulated data), Device Profile, Dashboard, Rule Chains, Alarm Rules, Calculated Fields, Customers, and Users.

To open the catalog, click IoT Hub in the ThingsBoard left sidebar and select Solution Templates.

1. Browse the catalog. Filter by Category or Use case in the left panel, or use the search bar. Sort by Most Installed to see the most popular templates.
2. Click a template card to open its detail panel and review the description, included components, and use-case scenarios before installing.
3. Click Install — either directly on the card or from inside the detail panel.
4. Confirm in the dialog. The platform automatically creates and configures all resources within your tenant.
5. When installation completes, a Solution template successfully installed dialog opens with solution instructions — a guide to the included dashboards, pre-configured alarm rules, demo device credentials, and next steps for connecting real hardware. Read through it before closing.
6. Click Go to main dashboard to open the installed dashboard.

Click the Installed Items button at the top of the Solution Templates page to open the list of installed templates. Click the Remove icon next to the template you want to remove and confirm the action.

Click the Installed Items button at the top of the Solution Templates page, then click Check for updates in the top-right corner. ThingsBoard compares all installed templates against the latest versions and adds an Updates column showing either Up to date or an available version to install.
