Scheduling Reports

The Scheduler automates report generation and delivery based on a pre-defined template. A single template can be scheduled multiple times — for different customers, time zones, or recipient groups — without duplication.

Prerequisites: At least one report template must exist before creating a scheduler event.

  1. Navigate to Monitor ⇾ Reports ⇾ Scheduling.
  2. Click + Scheduled report.
  3. Configure the event (see fields below).
  4. Click Add.
Field Description
Name Unique name for this scheduler event
Event type Always Generate Report
Report template The template to use for generation
User The user account whose data access permissions are applied when the report runs. The report includes only the data accessible to this user.
Time zone Time zone used for interpreting the schedule and for relative time windows in the report
Recipients One or more user groups or individual users. Configure delivery channels (Web, Email, Mobile app, Slack, SMS, Microsoft Teams) per recipient.
Notification template The notification template used to wrap the report delivery message
Public access When enabled, anyone with the report link can download the generated report without signing in. Use it to share tenant-owned reports with customer recipients, who can’t open them on the Reports tab.
Start time When the first report generation should occur
Repeat Daily, Weekly, or Monthly

All reports produced by the scheduler are stored and accessible on the Monitor ⇾ Reports ⇾ Reports tab.

  1. Navigate to Monitor ⇾ Reports ⇾ Reports.

Available actions per report:

You can also filter reports by report template or by the user whose credentials were used to generate the report.

Enable public access to let anyone with the link download the report without signing in to ThingsBoard. Public access is set separately for each report. To make every report from a schedule public automatically, enable Public access in the scheduler event.

  1. On the Reports tab, click the Manage public access icon in the report row.
  2. Turn on Public access. The dialog shows the public download link for the report.
  3. Click the Copy link icon to copy the link, then click OK.

The icon of a public report changes to a globe. To revoke access, open Manage public access again and turn off Public access.
